In Search of Oldton

The cliffs here are dangerous, since they are subject to rapid and dramatic erosion.

There used to be a road running along here, with several grand houses boasting amazing sea views. All gone. In fact, it's possible that up to a third of Oldton could well have fallen into the sea. Perhaps this is where Greg's beachfront went.

You can see the cliffs, by the way, in the background of a photo taken on a fossiling trip. Oldton was always a great place for fossils. The effects of erosion were sometimes so severe that literally overnight a complete dinosaur carcass would suddenly be revealed in near perfect condition. How strange that disappeared beasts from the past should be thrown up from the earth, even as Oldton itself was disappearing.
